Global Week For Syria

After performing in the wonderful city Tallinn, Estonia during the Tallinn music week presenting the global Week For Syria, I'm very happy to continue being part of this wonderful project in some additional concerts in Graz on the 22nd, Linz on the 24th and the 28th of April with the amazing projects Syrian Links and the Chameleon Orchestra .
Hundreds of artists from across the globe united with idea of Peace and Co-Creation will take part in the second edition of Global Week for Syria

The second edition of the Global Week for Syria will take place from April 17th to May 1st. This year Global Week for Syria worldwide is joined both directly with physical concerts and virtually by online #4Syria action by about 35 countries. Among countries hosting the Project performances, conferences, and talks this year there are Netherlands, UK, US, France, Austria, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Canada, Ukraine and Malawi.

On April 17th the festival starts in Beirut (Metro Al Madina), New York National Sawdust), and Berlin (Al-Hamra Cafe). On April 18th the big opening will be held in UNESCO Palace Beirut with Sonbola Chants Peace, accompanied by award winning Fayha Choir and guest of honor, Ahmad Qaabour, the concert will also feature Basmeh & Zeitooneh children choir.

Global Week for Syria is a multidisciplinary call for peace, support and co-creation. It is the project aimed at raising awareness, creating platforms and stimulating artistic co-creations between Syrian musicians and local/international musicians.

The international program of the Global Week for Syria includes:

• Music Festival in Beirut (LB); • Live Concerts, Fundraising Events and Conferences in The Netherlands, UK, US, France, Austria, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Canada, USA and other countries across the globe; • Over 100 Online Performances (#4Syria action); • Talks and Panel Discussions with scholars and cultural activists in Beirut (LB), Leiden (NL) and Oxford (UK). • Musical and Cultural Workshops in Beirut (LB); • Syrian Big Band Codarts Union Project that will take place on UNESCO’s International Jazz Day – The Hague, Rotterdam, and Amsterdam (NL)

New Album with the Chameleons

Dear friends , I'm so happy to announce that with the beginning of this year 2016 I'm going into the studio to record the first album of the chameleon Orchestra , this wonderful project leaded by my friend Christian Wirth (the amazing violin player from Austria) will be touring this spring to promote the new album , joined by a number of my colleagues : Marcus Wall, Julian Gillesberger, Stephan Punderlitschek , Didi Hollinetz, Norbert Girlinger, Eberhard Reiter, Matthias Kronsteiner, Martina Wirth, Marco Palewicz, Uygar Cagli, David Halasz, Gerhard Reiter, Andreas Huber, Basma Jabr and my dear friend MAias Alyamani

September 2015 !!

Dear Friends , I am happy to share with you some news, updates and concerts dates in September as it seems to me like a busy , full of adventures month !
I’m staying the whole week in Vienna, Austria starting tomorrow with some great musicians to rehearse and prepare the lunch of my new project Syrian Links on the 3rd of September in Porgy & Bess, so if you are around join us on that date and enjoy it !
I’m leaving to Iran on the 9th to perform a series of concerts and workshops in the beautiful city of Tehran and I heard that they really have some great food over there , so I’m excited to do this with the amazing Ulrich Drechsler trio , but we will be back to perform in Austria on the 17th in kulturglashaus Baumgarten, Niederösterreich, Austria so join us if you can grin emoticon
on the the 19th I’ll join the Chameleon Orchestra in a big benefit concert in Traiskirchen Refugee camp as well as some other great musicians and projects from all over Austria
and then I’ll be back to start the project of Ruh feat. a Syrian aboard tour featuring the great MAias Alyamani for some concerts and after parties in Linz, Austria on the 24th, Gallneukirchen on the 25th and Vienna on the 27th
the Syrian links will perform again as well on the 26th in Waidhofen an der Thaya with a new set up to be announced later , and finally I’ll end this month as I started it in Vienna to go into the studio and record a soundtrack of a documentary movie composed by my friend Ulrich Drechsler !!

Integration Prize 2015

Such a great news for us to know that our project Ruh just won the integration prize of the best culture project in Linz 2015 , winning this prize means a lot to us and encourages us even more to work in the integration field , as we receive our prize on the fifth of may 2015 in Lentos-Linz we will play there as well in a trio with Gerhard Reiter, Uygar Cagli and me ( Orwa Saleh ) , hope to see you guys :D

8th International Guitar Festival

(La Guitarra esencial)
I am happy to be this Summer part of the 8th international Guitar Festival in Millstatt
A nice town south of Austria will hold this festival for 4 days (5th-9th August 2015) , as I play at the opening with the Amazing Guitar player JULIA MALISCHNIG I will have a number of workshops as well to talk about my instrument and music !
But what makes this festival so special is that AL DI MEOLA will be performing in addition to other great musicians :D
